Thank you for your interest in Cub Scouts. Pack 3025 (often called Pack 25) is a Boy Scouts of America (BSA) unit affiliate that is chartered (sponsored) by Peoples Appliance, Inc., Waterloo. Our pack typically meets on the first and third Sundays of each month at 6:00 PM in the St. Edwards School gym. Meeting dates sometimes change due to conflicts with holidays and scheduled pack activities - be sure to check the pack schedule at our website at pack3025waterloo.org for the latest updates to our schedule.
Our pack has a number of activities scheduled throughout the year, and our plan for the 2025-2026 school year is shown in our Pack Activity Plan on page 4. This may change, as new opportunities become available throughout the year.
We are a Family Scouting Pack, and both boys and girls are welcome to join our scouting family! Per BSA rules, mixed dens are used for grades K-4, and grade 5 organized with separate boy and girl dens. Everyone has the opportunity to participate in all organized pack activities.
The new member registration fee with the pack is $88 for Grade K & First Grade, and $99 for grades 2-5. This includes $85 for BSA registration & accidental insurance during scouting activities, $50 for the council program fee, and $24 for the Cub Scout handbook, totaling $159. Grade K and First Grade is $11 less due to a $13 handbook charge. Pack 3025 will pay $60 of each new member"s fee to help reduce the expense. Scout Life Magazine may be ordered for an additional $15. Adult registration for leaders and committee members is $65 plus a $25 council activity fee (both paid by the pack).
Uniform costs, which include shirt and patches, are approximately $67-$75, depending on the shirt selected. Optional items include caps, $23-$25, and belts, $15-$24. Lions have t-shirts as their uniform and their cost is $15. These items, and more, are available at the Winnebago Scout Shop, 2929 Airport Blvd, Waterloo.
Other costs may include fees for council camps (once or twice per year), pack campouts, and other activities. Cost for these activities over the last year were approximately $80.
We do not want financial hardship to prevent anyone from being a Cub Scout. If your family is in this situation, please talk with a leader and we will work with you to find a way to make it happen.
To help pay for some of the costs of Cub Scouting, our pack holds a monthly pop can drive to provide funds for the pack and also to the scouts that participate. One-third of the proceeds each month goes to the pack. The participating scouts share the other two-thirds in prorated amounts based on their family's time (cub scouts and adults) at the can drive. This amount is credited to their scout accounts, which may then be used to pay for campouts and pack activities. They could also be used to pay for other scouting related expenses such as uniforms and equipment.
Another fundraising option is to participate in the Winnebago Council Fall Popcorn Sale. Everyone is welcome to take part to provide funds for their scout's Cub Scout activities. The full share of the proceeds, approximately 27% of sales, are credited to their scout account when sales are complete and popcorn is delivered in November. Please contact Heather Stessman if you are interested.
About Scout Accounts: Each Scout has an account that is maintained with the Pack. (Please note that the terms Scout accounts, Pack accounts, and individual accounts are used interchangeably and refer to funds retained by the Pack for use by the Scout to fund his scouting activities.) A Scout"s share of the profits from a fundraiser is transferred into the Scout Accounts by the Pack Treasurer after a fund raiser is completed. A Scout may request funds from his account at any time to pay only for scout-related expenses such as outings (including pack campouts, day camps and summer camp) and the purchase of clothing and equipment from the Scout office. Parents may also make a deposit to their scout"s account at any time for the same uses, or to maintain a non-zero balance.
Any remaining balance in a scout's account is forfeited to the Pack if a Scout becomes inactive or otherwise quits Scouting for more than one continuous year. Scouts transferring to another unit should have their new Pack or Troop treasurer contact our Treasurer to make a transfer of their account funds.
Scout accounts are administered by the Pack and are maintained as part of our bank account. The Winnebago Scout Office and Scout Shop have no knowledge of, and no access to, our pack's scout accounts.
Uniforms and accessories can be purchased at the Winnebago Scout Shop at 2929 Airport Boulevard, Waterloo, IA 50703. Their phone number is 319-233-5155. Used uniform shirts can often be purchased at Goodwill and other similar outlets. Other than Lions t-shirts, we suggest buying the blue and tan uniform shirts a size or two larger than is needed so your scout can grow into them.

We are a 100% volunteer run organization. We need your help in providing leadership to your scout's groups, conducting our pack and den activities, and in participating on the pack committee at parents meetings. None of the jobs or tasks are particularly difficult or time consuming, as long as we all share the load. Please talk to us about how and where you can help with the scouts. We look forward to your active participation in the pack. EMAIL IS OUR PRIMARY MEANS OF COMMUNICATION. To be effective, we need one or more email addresses for each family!
