pack schedule for next 3 months: Dec 15
pack visit to Waterloo fire station #3; January 8 has been changed from a pack
meeting to den meetings; Pinewood Derby car kits will be distributed at Jan 22
den meetings; Feb 5 Scout Sunday mass

Pack
management software update the pack has a one year subscription to Scoutbook
for advancement tracking. It appears to
have been updated with the new revised advancement requirements (at least by
checking one Tiger adventure). Parents
will be invited to join in the next few weeks.

Health
forms needed health forms are still needed from 9 Scouts. Families have been asked about once per month
to get current. The group discussed a
deadline before the Jan activity scouts can only attend if they are current
on their form.
·
Treasurer
Troop financial report We have a reconciled bank balance of $2563.72,
comprised of $2302.65 in the general fund and $261.07 in Scout accounts. We expect charges of approximately $940 for
pack rechartering in December and $144 for pinewood derby cars in January, with
income from the Dec can drive of $280.
· December activity: John emailed the pack with information regarding the Dec 14 visit to Waterloo Fire Station #3 at 4:00pm. Thank you John for making the arrangements.
· January activity: Sledding, UNI climbing wall, or something else? The group discussed visiting the Thorp center during a weeknight for a combined pack activity and recruiting night. Brian will contact them to get cost and availability information.
· February activity: workshop days to start construction of Pinewood Derby cars, details TBD.
· Scout Sunday, Feb 5 we need a few parents to help coordinate this activity. Andy will contact the church to verify that they are expecting us at 9:00 mass.

Updated
Cub Scout advancement requirements effective Nov 30, advancement requirements
have been revised in response to feedback from den leaders who have run
the new Cub Scouting program for a year.
Our roundtable commissioner described the changes as only requiring 2
meetings to complete an adventure instead of 3 previously. Content has changed very slightly, intent has
not. Scoutbook looks like it has been
updated appropriately. The changes can be viewed at http://www.scouting.org/filestore/cubscouts/pdf/CubScout_Advancement_Modifications.pdf.

Service Projects

Pop can
tabs, Dec 3 approximately 28 service hours were performed at the last can
drive removing the tabs from cans. (2)
one gallon bags of tabs have been collected since November.

Deliver
Christmas presents from St. Eds Jeff made several inquiries to St. Eds, but
no replies have been received back yet.
Any activity arrangements will be shared with the pack if/as they are
determined.

Chaplain
Religious awards
information, update. Books have been
distributed to Scouts at the last meeting.
The group discussed Feb 5 as an aggressive target for awarding Parvuli
Dei and Light of Christ at Scout Sunday on Feb 5. Parents should start working with their
Scouts to complete in the next 4 weeks.
Andy to check with St. Eds on lead time for processing the awards.

sub scout-specific training on the council calendar for the next 6 months

Fundraising
December 3 pop can drive
was conducted by 7 Scouts and 7 adults, and is expected to net approximately
$280. The next can drive is planned for
January 7.

Membership As noted
previously, a combined pack activity and recruiting event is planned for
January. Details TBD.

Round
Table Update Round table
discussed the recent changes in advancement requirements. Also, pack successes in pinewood derbies was
discussed. After the Scouts run their
cars, some packs have an Open division, an essentially anything goes class
for adults and siblings and charge up to $20 per entry as a fundraiser for the
pack.

Pack
recharter update the roster is complete and other paperwork is underway. Everything is expected to be submitted
shortly.

Pack
rosters they will be updated with the parents input to limit their personal
information and distributed this week.

Pack
committees Event and activity committees are needed to help reduce some of
the load from the volunteer leaders.
Most are one-time activities requiring attention for the month or two
leading up to them. Upcoming events are
Scout Sunday in Feb, and our combined Pinewood Derby / Blue-Gold banquet in
March. We would also like to have 2 or
more parents coordinate photography for the pack for positing to our Unofficial
Pack 25 Facebook account (a closed, by-invitation-only account).

meeting on Dec 18 due to holiday conflicts.
