1) Meeting called to order by John Henry

2) Attending:  John Henry; Chris Klaren; Chris Mayer; Jeff Patrick; Mike Treinen; Andy Wolter

3) Approval of previous meeting minutes – January minutes approved

4) Reports:

·         Cubmaster – items addressed in following agenda items

·         Secretary

·         Review pack schedule for next 3 months – the schedule was reviewed, the only change made was to remove the Polar Bear Winter Day Camp that was tentatively placed on the schedule for Feb 25.  With registration closing later this week and long term forecast temperatures in the 50’s, we will look at it again next year as a pack activity.

·         Health forms needed – health forms are still needed for 8 Cub Scouts.  Please complete them and either bring them to the next meeting or send to St. Eds school in an envelope addressed to Stephanie Klaren.

·         Treasurer – Troop financial report – We have a reconciled bank balance of $2106.02, comprised of $1511.53 in the general fund and $594.49 in Scout accounts.  Pinewood Derby cars in January were a $104 expense, and income from pop cans was $250.  We expect income from the February can drive of $280.

·         Outdoor/activities

·         January activity:  Thorp Family Fun Center, Jan 18, 4-7 PM, in conjunction with cub scout recruiting night, report.  A fun evening with a good pack turnout, and one prospective new member.

·         February activity: start construction of Pinewood Derby cars – “cut out” nights were held last week.

·         Scout Sunday, Feb 5, report – A very good pack turnout for mass and helping with coffee and donuts.

·         March activity – Pinewood Derby, Blue/Gold Banquet, and Friends of Scouting, March 5

o   March 4 – Car inspection and weigh-in after pop can drive

o   March 5 – Pinewood Derby & Blue/Gold Banquet

Noon-1:00 - Car inspection and weigh-in

1:00-1:15 - Awards and recognition

1:15-2:00 - Banquet and Friends of Scouting presentation

2:00-End - Pinewood Derby

Meal assignments: Wolves bring meet and entrees, Tiger Cubs bring side dishes, Bears and Webelos bring deserts.

·         April activity – Spring Fling – Cubservation, a conservation-themed weekend day camp, April 29-30, more information TBD.

·         May activity:  Spring campout, May 12-14.  The group discussed the options and decided to plan this campout to travel to the Maquoketa Caves instead of the combined campout with Pack 188.  The group believes the pack may not be ready for such a large combined group, but would like to pursue it at a later time.

·         Advancement – 21 belt loops were earned by the Wolf Den.

·         Service Projects

·         Food bank service project, update – John Henry will contact the Food Bank to set up an April 8 service project, and to determine how many boys and adults can help out at one time.

·         Chaplain – Religious awards, update – The pack is working to complete this year’s religious awards in time to award them at the Blue/Gold banquet in March.

·         Training – The district is planning to offer Cub Scout leader and committee training in March.  Details to be announced.

·         Equipment

·         Fundraising – February 4 pop can drive, report:  February is expected to net $280.  Next planned March 4.

·         Membership – 2 boys joined during the last month, bringing our total scout roster to 27.  Welcome new Tiger Cub Samuel Waddle and new Bear Scout Noah Schaefer to the pack!

·         Round Table Update – Round table report from February 9

·         March 4 – 37th annual Boy Scout Pancake Breakfast at the UAW Hall, 6:30 AM – 1:00 PM.  Tickets are $2 for all you can eat pancakes.

·         March 26 – River Valley Eagle Scout and Volunteer Recognition Dinner, Orchard Hill Church, 5:00 PM.  Tickets are $12, more information available on the council website.

·         Cub Scout leaders had considerable discussion on what they are using for meeting frequencies.  They ranged from 3 den meetings and one pack meeting a month to 2 den meetings per month with one of them partially used for pack meetings.  Committee meetings in general are sparsely attended by other than pack leadership and key committee members.

5) Old Business
