Pack 3025 Parents Meeting

1) Meeting called to order by John Henry at 7:30 pm.

2) Attending:  John Henry; Chris Klaren; Jeff Patrick; Michael Smith; Michael Treinen

3) Review of previous meeting minutes – May meeting minutes approved

4) Reports:

·         Cubmaster

·         No report

·         Secretary

·         Review pack schedule for next 3 months:  A pack pool party has been tentatively scheduled to replace the July 15 den meeting, pending confirmation.  A two night August campout was discussed, for either the weekends of Aug 11/12 or 18/19, further discussion to finalize.

·         Treasurer – Pack financial report:  The pack’s bank accounts total $3,300.69, with $2071.01 in the general fund and $1229.68 in scout accounts.  Deposits for the month included $506.10 for the May can drive and $390.00 for managing the Elks parking lots during the  My Waterloo Days parade.  Scout account balances can be found at http://troop1waterloo.org/1/pack25/ScoutAccounts.pdf.  Contact Chris Klaren for other details.

·         Outdoor/activities

·         Summer activities: As described in the schedule review above, tentative dates were discussed for a July pack pool party and an August campout.

·         Advancement – advancement activities – none for the month.

·         Rank advancements and other awards will be presented at a Court of Honor at the July 1 pack meeting.

·         Service Projects

·         Pop can tabs for Ronald McDonald House, report:  Tabs were not collected during the last can drive due to the amount of cans and bottles to process.

·         Chaplain – Religious awards, update – waiting for information, will send applications in soon.

·         Training

·         New Youth Protection Training – this will be scheduled for this fall so that new leaders can participate also.

·         Equipment

·         Fundraising – The June 2 pop can drive is expected to result in $338.  Next planned July 7.

·         Managing Elks parking lots for My Waterloo Days yielded $390 for the pack, of which 1/3 was shared with the participant’s choice of scout accounts.  The group discussed what days or portions of days to ask for Elks parking at Irish Fest, and Chris will contact the appropriate chairperson to see what is available.

·         Membership – The group discussed recruiting this fall, which will include Lions (kindergarten) and girls.  We discussed setting dates similar to last year.  Chris will gather last year’s recruiting schedule and propose a corresponding schedule for this fall.  This information will be emailed to the leadership group for further consideration.

·         Round Table Update – no round table scheduled for June or July

5) Old Business

·         Webelos to Scouts transition, followup from November parents meeting – no report

·         Family Scouting (Girls in Cub Scouting) – what are the pack’s future plans?  John had communication with Deacon Larsen and Father Bullock, and they were OK with recruiting girls this fall.

·         Class B shirts – no report

6) New Business

·         none

7) Announcements      

·         Next parents meeting Monday, July 16, 2018 at The O.P. (on Ridgeway Ave across from West High), meeting starts at 7:30 PM.

8) Adjournment – Upon having completed the evening’s business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:25 pm.
