·         Treasurer

·         Pack financial report:  The pack’s bank accounts total $4552.49, with $2132.01 in the general fund, $906.48 in scout accounts, and $1514.00 in a pack recharter escrow account.  The recharter account identifies funds from new member registrations and current member dues that are allocated for rechartering later this calendar year.  Recent deposits include new member registrations, $360 for August can drive, and $500 for Elks parking at Irish Fest.  Recent expenditures include $140 for cabin reservations for the November campout, $525 for cub scout handbooks, and $164 for new member registrations.  Outstanding amounts to be deposited include an expected pop can check of $454 for September.  9 scout accounts are negative as member dues were debited from the accounts in early September, and we are working with families to bring them back to non-negative balances.  Scout account balances can be found at http://troop1waterloo.org/1/pack25/ScoutAccounts.pdf.  Contact Chris Klaren for other details.

·         As discussed and approved at the August parents meeting, we will begin splitting the pop can revenues 2/3 to the participating scouts and 1/3 to the pack general fund beginning with the September can collection.

·         Service Projects

·         Pop can tabs for Ronald McDonald House – tabs not collected at the September can drive.

·         Chaplain – Religious awards, update – We received 7 medals to award, 5 to Bears and 2 to Webelos 2’s.  Mike will check to see if Father Bullock is available to award them at the next pack meeting (Oct 7).  Chris will purchase 9 Parvuli Dei workbooks from the scout shop.

·         Training – New Youth Protection Training – group training session will be held at Mike Treinen’s home on Sep 20.  Please sign up on SignUpGenius.com to RSVP.  If unable to attend the training can be completed at my.scouting.org.  The training must be completed by Oct 1 for all registered adults.

·         Equipment – Summer usage of scout garage; what follow-up, if any, is needed?  Due to several instances of at least one of the 2 door locks found to not be engaged, and not being sure who at this time has a key, Dave will rekey the lock and have a dozen keys made for us to control the distribution to pack adults who have a need for it.  Anyone outside the pack that believe they need access will need to make their case before getting a new key.

·         Fundraising – Last pop can drive, Sep 8, report.  11 scouts participated.  We estimate that the pack will receive a check for $454.  Next can drive is planned for October 1

·         Popcorn sales are available to families that want to raise funds for scouting.  All popcorn profits will be credited to scout accounts, the pack will not receive any of the proceeds.  Typical profits are 27% of sales (profit will vary based on the mix of product sold).  Popcorn sales start on or after Sep 15, and end Oct 25.  Contact Chris Klaren for more information.

·

6) New Business

·         Scoutmaster/Cubmaster fund proposal – the group learned details of a “Scoutmaster fund” that was used by Troop 1 to provide financial help to scouts in need.  It was funded with scout accounts of scouts that left scouting with non-refundable balances, as well as an occasional fundraiser.  We discussed possibly setting up a similar fund for the pack, and will continue discussion at future parents meetings.
