Pack 3025 Parents Meeting

1) Meeting called to order by
Matt Hennig at 7:31 pm.

3) Review
of previous meeting minutes –
November meeting minutes approved.
4) Reports:

Cubmaster
·
Thanks
to Matt & Ron for filling in at meetings when Mike was unable to attend.
·
Maquoketa Caves
campsite reservations will be made when they open 3 months before the campout.
·
Equipment
inventory continues. Mike picked up a
surplus hot beverage container for campouts.
·
Secretary
·
Review
pack schedule for next 3 months. Feb 9
will be rescheduled as from Blue/Gold banquet to a typical Cub Scout
meeting. Crossover and Blue/Gold will be
provisionally scheduled at the end of April.
Polar Bear (for Cub Scouts) and Klondike Derby (for Webelos and Boy
Scouts) were added to the schedule in February.
Cub Scout badge days at the Imaginarium were
added January-April.

Pinewood
Derby, Blue/Gold banquet, and Crossover scheduling. This issue addressed above.

forms, update : 47 complete (2 of those
need insurance cards), need 5 (4 scouts, 1 leader)

Registration
cost-sharing proposal: The group
discussed and approved using the pack funds to cover the $25 recharter cost
increase for all of the youth in the pack, $975 in total. We intend to do the same next year, assuming
our available funds allow.

Outdoor/activities
·
Dec 1 – Pack Christmas party, report. Fun activities and lots of good treats!
·
Feb 2 –
Scout Sunday. Andy Wolter has made arrangements
in the past, we need to have someone work with him to
learn what needs to be done for 2021.
·
March 1
– Pinewood Derby; rules for 2020. Last
year’s rules were briefly reviewed and it was decided to use them for
2020. Cars not meeting all of the
specifications (weight, size, ground clearance, etc.) will not be allowed to
race in the scout class, but will be allowed to race in a “modified” class
which will not award any trophies.

on food bank and other potential projects, no report
·
Chaplain
– Religious awards,
update. Several leaders have materials
to start, otherwise no update.

Training
– 5
pack adults are eligible to receive their “Trained” patches
·
Equipment
–
Mike picked up a surplus hot beverage container much like the one we used on
the last campout, and in need of more storage capacity. The group approved Ron’s request to purchase
a two wheel hand truck to help in moving cases of bottles in the garage.

Fundraising
– Pop cans, update
o October 29 report –
received $572.85 check for October Isle pickup and several Damon’s pickup. Entire check deposited into the general fund.
o November 2 report: received $776.35 check on Nov 26. 10 participating scouts each received $46.78 for
their scout accounts. This check
included $64.62 in cans and bottles collected from Damon’s that was moved into
the general fund.
o December 7,
report: 9 scouts participated, estimated check $836, with each scout to receive
an estimated $61. Waiting for check to
arrive.

·
Update. Our
recharter roster was submitted with 39 youth and 11 adults. 4 inactive youth and 1 adult were dropped
from the roster.

5) Old
Business
·
Class B shirts – cost and delivery information. Matt will contract the supplier he has been
working with for this information

Rechartering update.
Matt completed the recharter paperwork and will be getting the needed
signatures very shortly. Total rechartering
cost is $2925.
6) New
Business
·
Journey to Excellence – This is a BSA program to
help units focus on activities and practices to improve membership and provide
a better scouting experience. Matt and
Chris reviewed the 11 criteria, and found that our pack qualifies for Gold
recognition. Even with this great
result, we found opportunities for improvement in the upcoming year. Patches will be purchased for all Scouts and
adults to add to their uniform.

Next
parents meeting Monday, January 13, 2020 at The O.P. (on Ridgeway Ave across
from West High), meeting starts at 7:30 PM.
