Pack 3025 Parents Meeting

1) Meeting called to order by Mike Treinen at 6:58 PM

2) Attending:   Chris Klaren; Chris Steies, Sara Schaefer, Mike Treinen; and Ron Wing.  Matt Hennig joined the meeting at 7:11.

3a) Review previous meeting minutes – no concerns

4) Reports:

·         Cubmaster – Mike will be unavailable for all meetings through Easter.

·         Secretary

·         Review pack schedule for next 3 months

·         Health forms, youth & adults:  36 on-hand complete, 7 forms and/or insurance cards needed.  Reminders prior to upcoming meetings will continue to be emailed.

·         Treasurer

·         Pack financial report:  As of January 14, the pack’s accounts totaled $29,867.58, with sub accounts as follows:

Since Dec 9, we had income of $1589 in pop can checks, and $15 in campout fees.  Expenses were $2110 for recharter, $301 for program materials, $224 fir pinewood derby car kits, and $17 for awards.

·         Outdoor/activities

·         December 18, Pack Christmas party, report.  The party went well with everyone seeming to have a good time.  There were some issues with cleanup that will be addressed the next time we use the cafeteria.

·         February 5 – Scout Sunday update.  Mike is in contact with Fr. Bullock to make arrangements for the pack to attend 8:00am 10:30 (changed to early Mass) Mass and assist as greeters, as well as possibly with coffee and donuts after Mass.  Scouts and leaders should plan to wear Class A uniforms.

·         February 5 – Pack bowling update.  Maple Lanes will provide 5 lanes (5 youth per lane), shoe rental, pop, and pizza for $535, from 1:00-3:00.  Families should arrive shortly after 12:30 for scouts to get shoes.  Bowling is available for other family members at $26.95 per lane (price includes shoes).

·         March 5 – Pinewood Derby, update.  Mike is finalizing the location, either the St. Ed or BMAP gym.  Sibling cars will be run with the scout cars, and they will have a separate trophy for the winner.  Chris Steies will hold a car cutout at his shop on Friday, Feb 17, 4:00-7:00pm.  A parent or adult guardian must be present with their scout.

·         Advancement – Webelos 1’s need to earn their First Responder pins.  Chris Steies is making arrangements to visit a fire station after school either Fri Feb 10 or Thurs Feb 16.  More info will be communicated.

·         Service Projects – assisting at Scout Sunday

·         Chaplain – Religious awards, update.  Parvuli Dei booklets are on order for Webelos 1’s.  Work on other awards is underway.

·         Training – Leaders will need to renew their Safe Swim Defense if it has expired.

·         Equipment – Options to repair/replace the broken top vent on the pack trailer are being explored.

·         Fundraising – Pop cans, update

                                     Next can drive February 4, 2023

·         Membership –

·         Roster:  32 youth, 11 adults (no change from last month)

·         Round Table Update – report from January.  There was discussion on units working with the Civil Air Patrol.

5) Old Business

·         Recharter, update.  Recharter was completed on Dec 13.  The prorated 8 month charge was $2110.  Recharter will be completed again in August for the 12 months Sep 2023 through Aug 2024.

·         Canteens, update.  Discuss next month

·         Class B t-shirts – update on new design.  Matt brought 2 designs for consideration in 2 new colors with dry fit fabric as on option for $1.50 per shirt.  Cost is comparable to the last purchase we made.  The group selected a design and elected to provide dry fit shirts to scouts and leaders.  Hoodies and additional shirts will be available for purchase.

6) New Business

·         Insurance certificate for use of St. Edward facilities, update.  Matt will work with Jeff Mastin of Troop 29 and the council to obtain the new certificates for continued use of the school and church facilities.

7) Announcements

·         Next parents meeting Monday, February 13, 2023 at 1850 Patio & Grill, meeting starts at 7:00 PM.

8) Adjournment – Upon having completed the evening’s business, the meeting was adjourned at approximately 7:59 PM.
