Pack 3025 Parents Meeting

1) Meeting called to order by Matt Hennig at approximately 7:00 PM

3a) Review previous meeting minutes – no concerns

4) Reports:

·         Cubmaster – no report, Mike’s comments are included in following agenda items

·         Secretary

·         Review pack schedule for next 3 months.  The May 7 pack meeting was removed from the schedule, and the Rock Creek State Park campout was added for May 12-14.

·         Health forms, youth & adults:  36 on-hand complete, 7 forms and/or insurance cards needed.  Reminders prior to upcoming meetings will continue to be emailed.

·         Quarterly Journey to Excellence review:  The new 2023 criteria appears identical to 2022, and will be monitored throughout the remainder of the calendar year.

·         Treasurer

·         Pack financial report:  As of March 2, the pack’s accounts totaled $30,661.13, with sub accounts as follows:

Since Jan 14, we had income of $1075 in pop can checks.  Expenses were $53 for reimbursements from scout accounts, $16 for program materials, and $124 for pinewood derby trophy parts.  Our can redemption center owes the pack $1563 for 3 truckloads of returnables from Jan 16 through Feb 13.

·         Quarterly budget review – the pack’s financial performance is about $300 better than budget from a cash flow perspective.  The general funds balance is about $1,250 better than the original budget.  Our pop can fundraiser is the driver of our good fortune.

·         Outdoor/activities

·         March 26 – Pinewood Derby, update.  The pack will race at Blessed Maria Middle School, 12:10 check-in and inspection, Racing starts at 1:00 or when registration is complete.  Track setup will be the day before (Saturday) at 4:00 PM.  Scouts should bring their cars for test & tune 5:30-7:30 PM.

·         May 12-14 – Pack Campout at Rock Creek State Park, near Kellog, Iowa.  Mike has reserved a youth campsite, more information to be determined.

·         Summer activity – rain gutter regatta?  The group had some discussion of this for a summer activity.  We will bring more information for consideration at the April parents meeting.

·         Advancement – Mike believes the dens are making progress.  If possible, we would like to plan for Crossover in early June.

·         Service Projects – Mike will send Chris a list of Scout Sunday participants.  There is a possibility of a project at the May campout.

·         Chaplain – Religious awards, update.  Dens are in various stages of progress.  Webelos 1’s just received their booklets to start working on the Parvuli Dei award.

·         Training – leaders are encouraged to complete their Safe Swim Defense training on myScouting.org so we have sufficient leaders trained before the July campout.

·         Equipment – no known issues.  The trailer will be checked out before the May campout.

·         Fundraising – Pop cans, update

Average time for the last 4 pop can checks from pickup to check received is 81.7 days, with a high of 82 days and a low of 51.

·         Membership –

·         Roster:  32 youth, 11 adults (no change).  We expect to register 3 new scouts in the next few days, and Matt is reaching out to families that were interested in forming a pack at Kingsley school.

·         Round Table Update – report from March – no report as this meeting is before March round table

5) Old Business

·         Insurance certificate for use of St. Edward facilities, update.  The process was completed last Friday, and we are good through Feb 2024.  The process has been documented to aid in future renewals.

·         Canteens, update – Chris Steies proposed the pack consider a collapsible 550ml container.  Chris will get a price for these containers with “Pack 25, Do Your Best” printed on them.

·         Class B t-shirts – update.  Matt will get final pricing and email information to the pack families.

·         Next parents meeting Monday, April 17, 2023 at 1850 Patio & Grill, meeting starts at 7:00 PM.
